R-216 Analog Shift Register (ASR) module for Eurorack / Doepfer A100 system.
Actually, it is digital, but it stores an analog value in the range between 0-5V. Input CV values are sampled at trigger time and propagated to an output after a set number of triggers/clocks (tap number). Outputs can be quantized, even though the raw CV values are memorized. ASR delay taps can be set from “IN” (providing triggered quantization of input) up to 99 steps.
From top to bottom:
trigger/clock input + LED
display
rotary encoder
CV input 0-5V + range LED
3-position mode switch
three CV outputs
Display:
– three big tap numbers (IN to 99)
bottom line:
– loop length (2-99 steps) – does not apply in ASR mode
– loop or freeze (L/F) – shifts or freezes taps over the loop length. Loop = any taps after the loop length are sourced from the current loop. Freeze = taps above loop are held.
– sampling delay (0-9ms) – allows delay of CV sampling compared to the trigger/clock
– stop or rollover (S/R) – stops or rolls-over values on the display when turning the encoder (tap numbers always rolling over)
– quantization scale (unquantized + 16 scales, semitone to octave)
Switch:
FREEZE = values currently memorized are held until power down
ASR = normal operation of a shift register
LOOP = values currently memorized are looped (shifted by trigger), CV input is ignored
Jumpers are used to set when a new tap CV is sent to the output.
The value from the modified tap number can be sent to output immediately or at a new trigger or by pressing the encoder (enter new tap):
Top jumper sets tap change at the trigger (removed) or immediately without a trigger (set) as the value on the display is changed.
Bottom jumper sets tap change at pushing enter (removed) or immediately without pushing enter (set).
Both jumpers removed mean the tap is changed instantly when the value on the display is changed. Both jumpers set mean the old CV value is held on output until entered and triggered (putting the old CV to output until triggered, although the new tap value is already displayed and entered, waiting for the trigger).
Width: 4TE/ 4HP/ 20mm.
Depth: 50mm /2″ max.
Current: 35mA max.
Power cable included.
Double check power connection before powering your system please.
„Red strip“ means -12V connector side in Eurorack standards.
In some power distribution systems connector key can be reverted.
In this case cut connector key and plug power connector right way (with respect to red strip) or use different power cable appropriate to your power system.
