The C-240 is an envelope generator that allows the envelope to be retriggered while sustained. It also allows continuous control over the envelope shape, from exponential though linear to inverted exponential (logarithmic).
The C-240 has both normal and inverted outputs. The output range can be set to 0-5V or to 0-10V through setting jumpers on the circuit board (left jumper header set = 5V, right header set = 10V output; note that only just one jumper header should be set).
Envelope shape can be set from the standard logarithmic attack/exponential decay shape (EXP position) continuously through linear shape (LIN position) to inverted exponential attack/logarithmic decay shapes (LOG position). The C-240 can also be used to create uncommon “S-shapes” for A, D and R segments. A long press on the RETRIG MODE/S-SHAPES button engages this mode. In S-shapes mode, the Shape control then smoothly changes from the normal S-shape through linear envelope to inverted S-shapes, see picture. Time range of each of A, D and R segment is approx. 1ms to over 12sec. Knob at 9´clock sets segment time to approx. 10ms, 12 o´clock approx. 500ms, knob at 3 o´clock to approx. 4s.
The C-240 also supports two retriggering modes. The choices are to either restart the envelope from its current voltage level, or to restart it from 0 volts (which can cause a click in the sound). This mode can affect the the GATE input as well as the TRIG input. Short presses on the RETRIG MODE/S-SHAPES button toggles between four retrig options:
– both gate and trig inputs causes retriggering from actual envelope state (gate LED off, trig LED off)
– incomming gate retriggers envelope from its actual value, incomming trig makes instant jump to zero output and “retrig from zero” (gate LED off, trig LED dimmed)
– incomming gate retriggers envelope from zero value, incomming trig retriggers envelope from actual value (gate LED dimmed, trig LED off)
– both gate and trig inputs causes retriggering from zero (both gate and trig LED dimmed)
There is “0” under input LEDs as notice of “if this LED is dimmed (between active inputs) then this input retriggers envelope from zero”
Retriggering can work independently from input gate. If the “retrig while gate” jumper header is removed on the circuit board (see pic), the envelope can be retriggered anytime regardless of the current state of the gate. If the jumper header is installed, retriggering is allowed only when input gate is on.
If a cable is patched into the CV inputs for an envelope segment, its control becomes an attenuator for the incoming CV.
Width: 8TE/ 8HP/ 40mm
Depth: 45mm /1,8″ max.
Power cable included
Double check power connection before powering your system please.
„Red strip“ means -12V connector side in Eurorack standards.
In some power distribution systems connector key can be reverted.
In this case cut connector key and plug power connector right way (with respect to red strip) or use different power cable appropriate to your power system.
