The D-430 can generate three drum sounds at the same time: kick (acoustic or electric), snare (acoustic or electric), and one of eight different hi-hat or percussion sounds.

A short press of the SEL button cycles through different hi-hat and percussion sounds: two hats, cabasa, rimshot, handclap, clave, and two different cowbells.

Pressing the SEL button for over a second selects different kick/snare sounds in pairs, cycling between acoustic kick + acoustic snare, electric+acoustic, acoustic+electric, and electric+electric. If the kick or snare are set to an electric sound, their respective LEDs will appear dimmed in between triggers.

The kick and snare sounds can be tuned using their respective knobs (the hi-hat/percussion sounds have fixed tuning). The level of the snare and percussion sounds can also be adjusted with dedicated knobs, so you can balance their sound against the fixed level of the kick.

The D-430 Drum Boy is an excellent companion for the D-420 Drum Girl drum pattern generator module or D-425 3-track seq.

In some power distribution systems connector key can be reverted.
In this case cut connector key and plug power connector right way (with respect to red strip) or use different power cable appropriate to your power system.
